Cardiff School District use the IEP team for special education, parents or legal guardian of the student must sign the IEP before it can be implemented, a special teacher is needed, a district administrator who knows about the program and curriculum will provide district resources and supervise special education services. General education teacher can be part of the team, an assessor who probably conducted an assessment or evaluation that is used to determine the strength of the student is need for the team.
Below is a flow -chart of how the Cardiff School District follow for referral process.
A referral for consideration for special education begins with an evaluation plan that is developed by the assessment team, student records is reviewed, work samples are reviewed, parents provide medical or developmental information of the student and give their consent for the evaluation to be conducted.
The IEP is structured to describe the student’s current skills and area of need or weakness, it outlines the special designed instructions to address the student’s need, it identifies the student annual education goals and lists the services to be provided during the year.
If the team develop IEP,the IEP will provide a free and appropriate public education in least restrictive environment for the student. Continue Reading
